Birmingham Health Community Conference

Join Royal Mencap for the Birmingham Health Community Conference. In partnership with Midland Mencap, we are facilitating this practical, in-person event. It aims to bring together local health, education and community partners to improve healthcare outcomes for people with a learning disability.
Why this matters
Mencap’s national I’m In campaign focuses on increasing awareness of and uptake of the Learning Disability Register (LDR). When people are on the register, it helps services make reasonable adjustments and improves access to support such as Annual Health Checks, longer appointments where needed, and targeted public health interventions (including vaccinations).
This event is about agreeing on practical, local actions that increase LDR sign-up and improve Annual Health Check uptake across our area. We’ll share what’s working, explore what gets in the way, and identify next steps that organisations can take forward together.
Who it’s for
GP practices and primary care teams (including PCNs), learning disability nurses/community teams, Healthwatch, ICB colleagues, SENCOs/education staff, and Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) partners from across the Midlands.
What to expect
Short inputs, discussion and two workshop-style sessions focused on local barriers and solutions, plus time to connect with local system partners and professionals.
