Understanding and Strengthening the VCSE Sector in Worcestershire
Worcestershire County Council and Worcestershire VCSE Alliance have committed resource to develop this key piece of work with the VCSE to help understand and strengthen the Sector. A multi-agency steering group has been formed to support, inform, and guide the work.
Phase 1 was conducted by Peter Rose from Tiller Research Ltd. Download the Phase 1 report here:
We have recently launched a call for Expressions of interest for the third phase of this work.
REACH (Research Engagement and Community Health) Worcestershire
The mission of REACH is to improve health and wellbeing outcomes and address health inequalities through cohesive, targeted and research-informed support for communities in Worcestershire.
In partnership with VCSE organisations across Worcestershire, the Alliance is working to widen engagement in health and care research across the region to better understand and ultimately reduce health inequalities.
This important work is funded by the Clinical Research Network West Midlands (CRN WM) which is a network within the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR).
Worcestershire Community Wellbeing Roles Network
We have established a network of people working in Community Wellbeing Roles to continually connect, support and learn with peers in similar roles. The CWR network meets quarterly to develop knowledge on a specific topic, and monthly for an informal check-in.

VCSE Mental Health Programme
We are leading a project to develop ways of integrating VCSE and NHS mental health pathways, to reduce demand on primary mental health care, improve waiting time experience and optimise treatment. This work is being funded by Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care Trust.

VCSE Faculty at the ICS Academy
Facilitating workforce development, education, training and upskilling opportunities for all VCSE employees and volunteers.
The ICS Academy hosts a dedicated VCSE Faculty which brings together representative VCSE organisational leads to work together to determine the joint education, learning & development priorities,
As our Faculty develops, updates and access to a full repository of information, resources, tools and development offers will be promoted via the ICS Academy.
Representation
Representatives from the VCSE take information and intelligence collected from their geographical or service areas to a range of boards and assemblies, at system, place and neighbourhood levels. Being part of these meetings is a key mechanism for influencing decisions about services and support for local people and their communities.
Communications and Engagement
We have developed ways to share information between partners to bridge communication gaps and amplify the sector’s voice. In October 2023 we held the first Worcestershire VCSE Assembly, which bought together 100 people from Worcestershire’s VCSE and its stakeholder partners.
We share learning opportunities, calls for consultation and engagement and funding pots. Visit the news page to read more
