Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust Appoint New Chief Executive Officer

Following a full and thorough nationally advertised selection process involving local partners and NHS England, a new Chief Executive has been appointed on a permanent basis. Ellen Rule will be the new Chief Executive, starting on 1st May 2025.

Ellen, who is currently Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Strategy and Transformation at NHS Gloucestershire, has a wealth of experience which will be hugely beneficial in leading the organisation through the next steps of their improvement journey and the Trust Board and local partners fully support her appointment and are keen to welcome Ellen as she builds on the achievements of the Trust.

Ellen’s approach in Gloucestershire, working in collaboration with a wide range of One Gloucestershire partners, including the voluntary and community sector, she is known for being driven, dedicated and passionate about making things better for people, whist caring and compassionate to the core. 

Ellen has been instrumental in establishing a Clinical Programme Group (CPG) approach to service improvement and redesign, alongside clinicians, other health and care professionals and patient representatives and has been a driving force in ensuring the county became a leading light nationally in Social Prescribing and Creative Health.  

She has always placed a real focus on preventing ill health, developing integrated person-centred care and supporting people to maintain independence.

I am really looking forward to meeting and working with Herefordshire and Worcestershire colleagues, stakeholders, patients and carers across the health and care system.
