A brand new 6-week course aimed at young people who may be feeling lonely or isolated is being launched by ONSIDE.
The Resilience Roadmap, launched in Worcester earlier this month at The Hive, is aimed at young people aged 18-25. There will be further hubs in Evesham, Malvern and the Wyre Forest.
Head of Children and Families Services at ONSIDE, Viv McLaughlin, revealed more about the how the service came into being. ‘We realised there was an opportunity to support 18-25 year olds with their mental health and wellbeing, especially as many were struggling with loneliness, isolation and feeling disconnected from their communities.’
Viv added, ‘Through group sessions we will support young people to help them discover their core values and learn how to use them day to day. This will give them a personal roadmap for managing stress, making confident decisions, and building lifelong emotional resilience.’
The Resilience Roadmap offers the chance for young people to come together and support each other in building stronger social connections. It encourages peer support, helps individuals explore the reasons behind feelings of isolation and develops personalised strategies to tackle them. By boosting confidence and creating tailored action plans, the roadmap aims to strengthen social bonds and reduce the risk of mental health challenges caused by prolonged isolation.
This ONSIDE service is funded by the Public Health Team from Worcestershire County Council.
Cabinet Minister for Health and Wellbeing, Councillor David Ross said. ‘We are delighted to support ONSIDE’s new Resilience Roadmap. It will provide a good opportunity for you people to connect with others, build confidence and develop the tools they need to navigate life’s challenges. Supporting mental health is a key priority for us and the Health and Wellbeing Board, and we’re excited to see the positive impact of this programme.’
